We had a wonderful meeting last night. 8 members attended (4 actually turned on their cameras) and each attendee had an opportunity to talk about their current schedules as well as how we can navigate and incorporate self-isolation and social distancing into our club.

Here are the main takeaways:
  1. We will move to Weekly Meetings - After unanimous decision within the meeting, everyone agreed that talking every week would be welcomed scheduling.
  2. On Membership (A Braindump) - What are the trends, demographic, what are we looking for? Is there a demographic we should be focused on, research is a good starting point, research has to branch out to our membership group age, what inspires people? In addition, from a clubs perspective - hone down on the objectives of this club in particular and the new members, brainstorming work, online work, mission statement, speak to other clubs in similar demographic.
  3. Online - Outside of meetings what else can we do

We will move to Weekly Meetings - After unanimous decision within the meeting, everyone agreed that talking every week would be welcomed scheduling. Here's what we are thinking:
  1. We incorporate fun and games into the occasional meeting (Houseparty, Jackbox, Kahoot)
  2. We focus on key messaging from speakers - heavy focus on questions over presentation
  3. We use the opportunity to brainstorm and game-plan for our club - main primary focus is membership

Online - Outside of meetings what else can we do
  1. Career Day
  2. Pokerwalk
I've also added some of the responses to the questions I submitted prior to our meeting and encouraged people to respond too:

How have you been coping with the pandemic? Feel free to express your emotional reaction to everything.
  1. This is going to change alot of things - social distancing is going to re-evaluate the way we currently live in the city
  2. After this is over, online learning will have much more of a role in society
  3. Non-for-profit are going to take a 9 to 15 billion dollar hit around the world,  forcing lots of sectors to get creative on how to fund-raise, lots of organization who are low in funds but high in programming
  4. Re-evaluate what you want to do, personally
How do you fill the time? Do you have any great tips on how to spend the time? Any questions or suggestions?
  1. Taking it slow, trying to keep up to date with friends, helps alter the way I currently fill my time, saved a lot of money
  2. Lots of work - being in isolation with children has led to quality time - screeching for stimulation - Work is really busy -  learned to write left handed!
  3. Work is busy but people are figuring out how to work remotely
  4. Enjoying the time - sleepin, take care of things you have been putting off - forced sabbatcial
  5. More work to do now then ever before - having a dog can be challenging (conference calls are a chore) - created a schedule with roommate - inside workouts/ dance routines
  6. Home exercise - Busy with work
What do you think the club should be doing? We may be done meeting for the rest of the Rotary year....
  1. Going to be challenging to keep up the service we give - continue to email additional ideas
  2. What would new members want to see - spend some time on revitalizing the club - create the game plan for next year - we have the time
  3. This is the best time to focus on what we can do moving forward and if there is something we can do remotely
  4. Virtual fundraisers - lots of resources - things we can be doing around the engagement piece - focus on membership - signing into an online meeting is easier - journey for new members - how to they stay engaged and committed - regroup a little - offer any insight that would be welcomed
  5. Membership - how can we retain members? - are we attracting people?
  6. Connecting communities - how can we apply what we learn in our jobs - doing things remotely
  7. Cancelled events - District Assembly could be done online
