We may not have been able to wrap like we used to, but in 2020 Toronto Twilight banded together and were once again to participate in Holiday Helpers for the 11th straight year.
For a solid decade, since Toronto Twilight first became a Rotary Club, they have annually participated in the Holiday Helpers event, wrapping gift donations so that families receiving them would have a true Christmas experience. This year, since participation in the wrapping wouldn't be possible due to Covid-19 restrictions, Toronto Twilight decided to participate in a different capacity, by raising funds to sponsor a family ourselves and then buying an assortment of gifts (including both wants and needs) for a family of three.
A huge thank you goes out to the sponsors who helped us get close to $1,500 raised. This not only covered basic essentials we absolutely had to buy (sheets, kitchen supplies, winter clothes, toiletries), but also a series of additional wants (toys for the children including Lego and a doll house, an audio learning tool, microwave and blender). Nick was able to pick up gifts from our group of shoppers (thank you to CJ, Holly, Aby, and Neil) and dropped them off in early December to be wrapped and sent to the family for December 25.
Please see the attached collage for the gifts we put together, what they looked like all boxed up, and the drop off station.
